Saraland, Alabama
Saraland Alabama is a part of the Mobile metropolitan area. Saraland is the third largest city in Mobile County, located about 8 minutes north of Mobile Alabama. Saraland is growing by leaps and bounds. There are a large number of new subdivisions and new businesses such as Lowes moving to the area. The city has recently built a new fire station and is also opening an Independent Saraland School System.
There are many rivers and creeks that offer great bass, bream, shell cracker and cat fishing. Enjoy a leisurely ride down the many bayous of the delta. The delta offers a wide variety of nature from the Osprey to deer and other wild game. There are also many native flowering plants, which are found only in the delta. Gorgeous trees with hanging moss line the shore and nesting Ospreys.

There are special events like the Fall Harvest Festival and the Saraland Christmas parade is one of the largest around. People line the streets of Saraland every year and parade goers fill their bags with candy, trinkets, stuffed animals, necklaces and more.
Mobile State College students can work toward bachelors and master’s degrees in arts, business, computer science, applied sciences, nursing and religious studies in this 4-year college.
Saraland offers a great variety of restaurants for you to enjoy. There is Ruby Tuesday’s, The Catfish Junction, Wintzell‘s Oyster House, Rodgers BBQ, Los Tres Amigos, China Palace, Waffle House, Pizza Hut, Happy China restaurant, and a famous local deli called Something Special, Benzi’s Pizza, Blimpie Subs and Salads, Butch’s Restaurant, Kings Seafood and Catfish One.

Saraland is known for the oldest oak tree in the state named the “Grand Oak”
Saraland Alabama and Bayou Conet was the location of the Amtrak disater which happened in September of 1993. This disater was the most horrible disater in Amtrak history. When the train leapt a bridge that had been hit by a barge and plunged into the bank on the other side. Of the 220 passengers and crew, 47 people were killed, many by drowning and others by fire.
The Cry Baby Bridge is one of Alabama’s most haunted places. The story is that one time some boys were playing on the bridge and one of them got pushed in and he drowned…it is supposedly his spirit that haunts the bridge.
The is a Plantation on Kali Oka Road with a story about an elderly lady who lived in the old house. She lived there with her bodyguard and also she had a housekeeper that lived there with her. There are reports of seeing the guard standing by the front porch, as if he was still guarding her.
